The trips below are not in any order, Glenforsa may be the 25th to fit in with their fly-in. East Fortune East is pencilled in for the Wednesday 22nd to fit in with the work day of the 1 1/2 Strutter group.
At present there are 25 visiting aircraft registered and 5 locals. We may have to limit this to 30 visiting as not all the places we intend to go can park that many aircraft.
1: Glenforsa in a must http://www.glenforsa.com, 40min RV time from Perth, Hotel at which you park in front of with good food. Could be a night stop if desired. From there you could continue to view Fingals cave on Staffa then on to Tiree and Coll then back to Perth passing Tobermory and the painted houses AKA Ballamory for the kids. Total flight time is under 2 hours. The Glenforsa annual flyin is on the 25/26th May and they have a RV flyin 24/25 August as well.

2: Plockton via Mallaig, 20 min walk to the village with plenty of eating options and scenic harbour. From there head up towards Inverness then down the great glen to Fort William and back to Perth via Loch Rannoch and Rannoch Station, the remotest railway station in the UK. Again total flight time under 2 hours.

3: Barra, Benbecula and Sollas. This one needs to be arranged with the tides and requires a bit of briefing for beach landings. Flight time about 2 1/2 hours, Barra will depend on report from the airport on runway condition on the day.
Sollas with runway marked for 2018 fly-in. Care required as it’s easy to get the wrong beach and not all are suitable for landing on. Unfortunately the tide heights and time of year will prevent landing at Sollas, anyone who would like to do so would need to return for the official Sollas fly-in on the 27th/28th July. .
4: Kirkwall routing via Inverness and west side of Hoy to fly past the Old Man, back via John O Groats, Wick and Breamar. Kirkwall would require a short taxi ride into town for lunch or Lamb Holm where I’m sure we could get Tommy Sinclair to organise a BBQ. Camping overnight on Lamb Holm an option. About 2.5 hours flying.
5: Bute, short walk to hotel for lunch. Return via overhead Macrahanish and scenic route past Gigha, Loch Awe, Loch Voil, Loch Earn. Flight time under 2 hours.
6.East Fortune East, this is part of the old East Fortune airfield where there is a great museum with Concord BOAA and a Vulcan amongst other things. The strip is hard and used for bike racing, there is an area of the old runway to park on with plenty of room for us. Transport offered to ferry us from the strip round to the museum and also to see an amazing project nearby where a group of retired gents have built a 1 ½ Strutter from scratch. I’ve seen this a few times over the years and it is nearing completion.
